Retail Buying
In this course, I learned about all the responsibilities of the retail buyer, including skills in assortment planning, techniques for seasonal planning and negotiating terms of sales. I also learned skills in the critical thinking and analysis of a specific target market, and making the best marketing decisions based on that research.
Six-Month Plan and Memo
Below is the six month plan I created for the women's work wear department for the Spring 2018 season. The six-month plan spreadsheet outlines the proposed sales, stock-to-sale ratio, beginning and end of month stocks, markdowns and planned purchases at retail and cost. Accompanying the spreadsheet is a memo explaining the increases and decreases in the various percentages.
Fall/Winter 2018 Women's Department Plan | Perry's Department Store
I created a complete department plan for a fictional department store called Perry's in Arlington, VA. In this simulation, I did demographic and psychographic research and completed a full customer profile and economic trend analysis on the area; a six month plan; assortment plans by fabrication, color, size, vendor and price line/unit/dollars; and a purchase order. I also created mood boards according to trend research on popular colors, silhouettes, fabrication and details for my identified target market.
