The Ultimate Cotton Influencer Challenge
This student competition was presented by Cotton Incorporated, Central Michigan University's fashion merchandising and design department and CMU's Threads Fashion Show. Drawing inspiration from Cotton Inc.'s current marketing strategies, students were encouraged to transform cotton's current brand image as a comfortable and classic staple to a more fashion-forward, innovative necessity. The competition was broken up into three themes: sustainability, lifestyle and luxury.
My partner and I created a 20-second promotional video to demonstrate cotton as an elevated, luxurious fiber. We were inspired by advertising campaigns by luxury brands Dior and Salvatore Ferragamo, which implemented fine artwork and architecture in their past campaigns.
Our video won first place for the "Cotton as Luxury Fiber" theme of the competition and received recognition at the 21st annual Threads Fashion Show in April 2019. Click here for more information on the competition.
Splendor by the Fiber
This competition was made possible by a grant awarded to Central Mcihigan's fashion merchandising and design program from the Importer Support Program of the Cotton Board.
